Our focus group has been engaging in meaningful discussions about the effective use of AI in the classroom. We have been researching tools like Khanmigo, particularly its potential as a classroom tutor, and exploring how AI can support teachers by simplifying time-consuming tasks, thereby allowing for more instructional time. A key topic of discussion has been the teacher’s role in ensuring the ethical use of AI in education.
Additionally, our technology department is actively reviewing the approval process for using Khanmigo as a classroom tutor, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding student data privacy. We have also addressed preconceived notions and concerns among educators regarding AI, working collaboratively to overcome these challenges.
The group includes the technology coordinator, the assistant technology coordinator, four teachers, and the curriculum coordinator. We plan to continue this focus group throughout the remainder of the year, fostering ongoing discussions and actionable insights for AI integration in education.
